Which safety class for which application
- S1: Toe cap, antistatic properties, energy absorption in the heel area. For dry indoor areas such as workshops, warehouses, or assembly.
- S1P: Same as S1, with the addition of a penetration-resistant sole to protect against nails, metal shavings, or screws on the floor. The standard choice where there is a risk of penetration.
- S2: Same as S1, with the addition of water-repellent upper material. Useful in damp environments where there is no acute risk of penetration.
- S3: Combines penetration protection and water resistance. The most popular class for construction sites, outdoor use, and changing surfaces.
- S5: Same as S3, usually designed as a waterproof boot.

The starting point is the risk assessment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Dry environment with no risk of puncture: S1 is usually sufficient.
